#14 just the right thing

when you just can't get the right size, the right color, 

the right word and the right feel - of a home decor or accessory

got my stuff from the craft store •
these 5 pcs cost less than $2

did a little sanding on the corners and assembled them

glued them together and spray-painted with the
same paint i used with the other accessories

hang it and enjoy!

i got the fleur-de-lis in brown and the bird cage in blue

(50% off but not exactly what i was looking for)

spray-painted them all with creamy-white paint

and for just less than half an hour •

i got what i wanted and i'm loving it

#13 playhouse

 playhouse • never thought i will be 

making one to post here

but it's handmade and it's cute

so, go ahead •

it's really my little son's idea • 

what made him think of making one • 

something he learned in school •

he is the designer • i am just the builder •

i was so tempted to put more details

(make it more crafty)

but he insisted not to •

it came out the way he wanted it to be

though i think a flower box and a picket fence

would be really nice • just suggesting •

#12 blog-to-go

in the next few days, 

the house will be very unusually quiet during the day •

so this little corner (at panera bread) 

is gonna be my little blog spot •

armed with the stuff i need to blog, off i go to

panera bread across the street

a date with my coffee, my pink ribbon bagel and my blog

#11 fall

have you finished your fall decoration yet • 

a little bit late, i know, but have been doing 

a little at a time since the end of september and 

this weekend, finally finished mine • 

got my mums, pumpkins and gourds

- still fresh and colorful • 

happy to say that aside from the fresh ones,

I didn't have to buy any additional 

fall decorations this year • 

all of them came from my collections 

throughout the years •

i am now very much ready 

to bake some apple pie and 

carve a jack-o-lantern 

(both requested by the kids) •

and in a couple of weeks,
my husband and i will be raking leaves •

#10 so many photos, so little time

my collection of photos are usually archived in photo boxes waiting to be scrapbooked. i am not a fan of photo albums, that's why i have scrapbooks and photobooks.  searching for just one wedding  photo to put on my desk turned into digging 10 yrs+ of prints. i found myself getting so comfy on my chair looking at hundreds of them. these photos were from that era of films and negatives, which explains why i only have a few of my 8-yr old son's photos. he was born in the digital age.

i was so excited to find photos of when i was still young and very skinny, families from all over, friends from school and work, so many trips, weddings, the kids when they were still on diapers and strollers, baptisms, birthdays, holidays, school stuff and milestones .... so i decided to just take them to the coffee table in the living room and for everyone to see and enjoy. they don't have to look neat like this ... everyone can just dig in, take a look and share the stories and the memories behind the photographs.

#9 october is breast cancer awareness month

this year, teal and pink were the color of our shirt for our
traditional susan komen race for the cure at central park, ny.

knowing it would be a very easy project,
I did 5 of them just the night before the walk. 

I just scribbled a ribbon on the front side of the shirt
with a wide paint brush and pink paint. 

 very spontaneous and very handmade.

it was a nice day for a walk at the park. 

 fun doing it with the whole family.  

lets do it again next year.
