i'm lovin' polka dot pattern a lot

that i just have to make my colorful polka dot 

christmas baubles

grab some plain ceramic christmas balls 

craft paints and a stencil dauber

at a local craft store

[all for less than a dollar each with coupon]

freehand any design you want

i used polka dot

[kids can do this part easily]

# 23 multi-cultural holiday decoration

12 days of christmas

day 5

at my work in a hospital (yes, i decorate there too)
we regularly decorate our unit for every season and events, 
from 9/11 memorial to breast cancer awareness month.

but working in a very diverse city of new york,
it has always been a challenge to decorate for the holidays,
having to put in mind the different faith and culture,

christmas (christian)
hanukkah (jewish)
 kwanzaa (african-american)

our staff collected caps from the medication vials we used

(maybe hundreds of them daily)

i spray painted them to the colors i needed 

to form a menorah for hanukkah, a kinara for kwanzaa

and to make a frame ornaments for our christmas tree

i'm truly happy how we were able to make use of these

little things into useful art

really a unique idea.

#22 little christmas tree

day 4

this is the christmas tree my boys have in their room.

the ornaments are collections of 

their favorite games, toys and tv shows through the years.

 thomas the tank engine, spongebob, phineas & ferb, 

nascar, ny yankees, ny giants, monster jam, baseball

club penguin, video games, super mario, angry bird
lego and painting

my kids and i tried to be creative in putting this together

• i screwed in a small hook on the thomas the train toy (wood)

• my son attached a string and lots of tape 

on a club penguin figurine

• we cut out an image from a toy box and attached it on a bauble,
when i accidentally dropped and broke dale jr's ornament

i'm still on the hunt for 

blue's clues and bob the builder ornaments.

 how about ornaments of their favorite book?

wish me luck.

➀ table centerpiece - mason jars, pine cones, baubles, tree cuttings arranged on vintage box

 ➁ PB-inspired JOY sign - 10 inch letters from hobby lobby, spray painted in colonial red

➂ subway art in filipino - "ang pasko ay sumapit" or "christmas has come" 

➃ unfinished wooden snow sled - painted in colonial red, letter stencil
➄ village - $1 village house and tree from walmart painted in creamy white
placed on a cake stand and sprinkled with faux snow
